Kit and Clowder – Penguin Bauble!

Today I’m sharing a Christmas card that I made following a video for the Penguin Bauble Colouring class by Alyce Keegan at Kit and Clowder during the November Summit Class.

The image provided by Alyce was printed out with my HP Printer onto Copic Marker X-Press It Blending Card using High Quality Grayscale and coloured in with Copic markers. Once I finished colouring the image, it was fussy cut leaving a slim border. The sentiment was stamped onto some white cardstock in my stash using VersaFine – Majestic Blue ink, MISTI and Kraftin’ Kimmie – It’s Penguining To Look A Lot Like Christmas!  stamp. Ranger – Clear Super Fine Detail embossing powder was applied over top of the ink and it was heat embossed with a Marvy Uchida – Embossing Heat Tool. Lastly, I used a Sharpie – Gold Medium Point – Water Based Paint pen to go around the edges.

The base card was created to the size of 6″ x 6″ out of Hammermill – Premium 110 lb. cardstock. Gold cardstock from Chloe’s Crafts Paper Pad was applied directly to the base of the same size using liquid glue. Waffle Flower Crafts – Nesting Squares were used to die-cut Crafter’s Companion – Snowflake Swirls designer paper for the background and Moonstone – Hunkydory – Vintage Filigree Frame die was used to die cut Chloe’s Crafts Paper Pad – Navy Blue paper. I applied both of these directly to the the front of the card using liquid glue and then popped up the finished image and sentiment onto the card using U-Line double-sided foam tape.

Below is the original coloured image before creating the card to go with it.

Penguin and Reindeer Friend!

Today I’m sharing a Christmas card that I made using Whimsy StampsPenguin and Reindeer Friend and Penny Black Creative DiesAntique Frame.

The image was printed out with my HP Printer onto Copic Marker X-Press It Blending Card using High Quality Grayscale and coloured in with Copic markers. Once I finished colouring the image, I applied Copic B000 all around it and then fussy cut the image out leaving a slim border.

The base card was created to the size of 4.25″ x 5.5″ out of Hammermill – Premium 110 lb. cardstock. Stampin’ Up – Snowflake Splendor Designer Series Paper was cut to the same size as the base card. Using a Cuttlebug and Penny Black Creative Dies – Antique Frame, I die cut the centre of the paper, keeping the original size as well. The same dies were also used to cut out a larger rectangle out of Hot Buy – Recollections – Jewel Tones paper. To create the snow, I first die cut the snow drifts with Lawn Fawn – Sparkle Cardstock in “Pixie Dust” paper and Spellbinders – Color Block Scenic Scape dies. Next, so that I could keep the same shape as the snowflake die cut, I once again ran both of the snow die cuts through the cutting machine using the Penny Black dies. All of the die cuts were inked around the edges with a finger dauber and Tim Holtz Distress Ink – Salty Ocean. Tim Holtz Distress Inks – Tumbled Glass was applied to the top of the snow banks to give them some contrast.

The whole card was now ready to assemble.

Liquid glue was applied to the larger snowflake border and then applied directly onto the base card. U-Line Double-Sided Foam Tape was applied to the completed image, small snow drift and each of the rectangle die cuts. The larger die cut rectangle was popped up onto the centre of the snowflake base. Liquid glue was applied to the larger snow drift and it was applied directly to the smaller snowflake die cut. Another layer of U-Line Double-Sided Foam Tape and some liquid glue were applied to the smaller snow drift then it was popped up onto the larger snow drift. The penguin and reindeer image was popped up behind the smaller snowdrift. I also applied some liquid glue to the foam tape so that it would adhere better to the sparkle cardstock. Lastly, I fussy cut a sentiment from Creative Expressions – Wordies Sentiment Sheets – Christmas Script and popped it up onto the top of the card.

Merry Christmas Bears!

Sharing a Christmas card that I made for my husband this year using Penny BlackNose to Nose – 30-521 and Gina K. DesignsPeaceful Christmas for the trees. Bears have a special place in our hearts, so this was the perfect image to celebrate our Christmas with.

Hammermill – Premium Colour 100 lb. cardstock was used to create a 5.5″ x 4.25″ card base. I cut American Crafts Vicki Boutin Mixed Media Foundations Paper to be the same as as the base. I went out of my comfort zone and attempted to create Northern Lights in the sky by applying a combination of Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Inks – Prize Ribbon, Twisted Citron, Villainous Potion and Black Soot with blending brushes after watching several YouTube videos. Once I was satisfied with the colours, I spritzed the paper with water and allowed it to dry. Once again, I did some ink blending with the same colours. I used some water and a small paint brush and applied Cosmic Shimmer – Opal Glaze Polish – Gilded Avocado over the entire sky. I set this aside to dry. Wasn’t quite what I expected it to be, but I still liked it and hope that you do too!

Using my MISTI and Memento – Tuxedo Black ink, I stamped the image onto Copic Marker X-Press It Blending Card. I coloured in the image and then fussy cut it out. By now the background was dry. I put the background back into my MISTI and this time, using Color Hue – Remarkable Ink Pad Eclipse Black, I stamped the trees. I mixed together a combination of FolkArt – Extreme Glitter Acrylic Paint and Delta Ceramcoat – White. With a small paint brush and some water, I applied this to the bottom below the trees and onto the small heart. I love the way some of the blue and purples came through onto the snow giving it some natural shadows. I also added in some stars by putting some of the mixture onto the brush once again and then tapping it to create a small splatter in the sky. This dried fairly quickly. I attached the finished background to my base card using double-sided tape. U-Line double-sided tape was applied to the image and heart and then they were both popped up onto card. Stickles – Diamond was applied to create the snow on the ground to give a cast shadow below the bears. Lastly, I cut the sentiment out of Recollection – Christmas Vellum. This was put through my Xyron Create a Sticker to make it lay flat and not show any glue marks.

Delivering Candy Angel!!

Today, I’m sharing a Christmas card that I made using Polkadoodles stamp called Delivering Candy – Winnie Angel. It’s hard to believe that Christmas is only a few days away. This little Christmas angel is all set to make someone’s Christmas very special.

To create this card I began by making a base of 5.5″ x 4.25″ using Hammermill – Premium Colour 100 lb. cardstock. Hot Buy Craft Smart – Holiday Glitz Glitter Paper was cut to the same size and attached to the base card using double-sided tape. I imported the image into Microsoft Word and then printed it out using High Quality Grayscale onto Copic Marker X-Press It Blending Card cardstock. This stops the ink from smudging when you colour the image with your markers.

With my Cuttlebug, I die-cut the image and Recollections – Matte Gold Foil cardstock using Penny Black Creative Dies – Antique Frame. U-Line double-sided tape was attached to the larger die-cut and it was popped up onto the centre of the card. I coloured in the image using Copic markers and then added Stickles – Diamond to the snow on the bottom. With a UNIPosca PC-3M White marker, I created the snow in the sky. Wink of Stella – Clear was applied to the wings and the halo. Once the Stickles dried, I adhered the coloured image layer to the card using U-Line double-sided tape as well.

Snow Kisses!!

It’s Wednesday, and this week, I made a snow lady Christmas card using High Hopes Rubber Stamps Snow Kisses – TT059 for the main image and Holly Jolly – K048 for the sentiment. I’ve always loved snow people and birds and this stamp combo makes me smile because it has both.

To make my card this week, I began with a card base of AC Cardstock – White, cut and scored to be 6″ x 6″. I cut 2 strips of Doodlebug Design Inc. – Winter Wonderland coloured snowflake pattern to the size of 6″ x .75″. 2 strips of Doodlebug Design Inc. – Spring Solid Assortment paper to the size of 6″ x .25″ and 1 strip of Forever In Time – Textura Sky cut to the size of 6″ x 4″. With Tim Holtz Distress Ink – Evergreen Bough and a blending brush, I inked around all of the edges of the larger pieces. I ran all of the smaller pieces through my Xyron Create a Sticker. The pieces were then attached to the base card from top to bottom. I used liquid glue to attach the larger piece. I trimmed around the 3 sides of the card with a paper trimmer to make it all even.

For the frame around the image, using my Couture Creations – Go Power and Emboss die cutting machine, I die cut the entire frame with Doodlebug Design Inc. – Winter Wonderland paper and Penny Black – Graceful Stackers dies. 2 dies were pieced together for the pink frame using my cutting device and Forever In Time – Textura Blush cardstock. Lastly, I stamped the image with Memento – Summer Sky ink onto Lawn Fawn – Sparkle Cardstock in “Pixie Dust” using my MISTI. I took this piece and ran it through my Couture Creations – Go Power and Emboss die cutting machine again so that it would fit snug into the frame. I cut off the remainder following the stamped snow along the top and inked it with the Memento – Summer Sky ink. Using liquid glue, I applied the pink frame over top of the snowflake die cut while carefully matching up the edges. Liquid glue was applied to the lower back of the snow piece and it was attached to the snowflake background inside the frame.

The image was stamped onto Copic Marker X-Press It Blending Card using my MISTI and Memento – Tuxedo Black ink. After colouring the images, I fussy cut around all of them and then with a black marker, inked around all of the edges. I popped up the snowlady using U-Line double-sided tape and attached her to the card under the snow. The little bird was also popped up using U-Line double-sided tape and some liquid glue. Using Copic B41, I added in some shadows in the snow and Stickles – Hibiscus was applied to the scarf and pompom to give them some extra sparkle.

The sentiment was stamped onto Doodlebug Design Inc. – Spring Solid Assortment using my MISTI and Versamark ink. Ranger Embossing Powder White – Extra Fine Detail was applied and then heat embossed using a Marvy Uchida – Embossing Heat Tool. Using my Cuttlebug and My Creative Time – More Stitched Circles, I die cut the sentiment. The edges were inked around using a finger dauber and Tim Holtz Distress Ink – Evergreen Bough. The snowflake was cut using my Cuttlebug, Lawn Fawn – Sparkle Cardstock in “Pixie Dust” cardstock and die from Recollections – Christmas Snowflakes Clear Stamp & Die set. I popped up both the sentiment and snowflake using U-Line double-sided tape onto the card. Lastly, I added 3 Doodlebug Designs Inc. – Sprinkles onto the frame to finish it off.

Rain or Shine!

Sharing a card I made today using Penny Black Stamps – Rain or Shine. My husband and I always celebrate the first day that we started going out together and also our wedding anniversary each year. Yesterday, marked 36 wonderful years together. We had bears on the top of our wedding cake, so I thought it would be great to make him a card with bears to celebrate our special day.

To make my card, I started out with Hammermill – Premium Colour 100 lb. cardstock to create a card base of 5.5″ x 4.25″. Using My Creative Time – Rectangle Frame Dies and my Cuttlebug, I die cut a small rectangle into the front of the card. For the raindrops, I first applied some Post-It tape down the centre of the card and then applied Tim Holtz Distress Inks – Tumbled Glass with a Picket Fence – Blending Brush. I placed Kraftin’ Kimmie – Rainy Day Stencil over top of this blue section and this time I applied Tim Holtz Distress Ink – Salty Ocean. I removed the stencil and the Post-it Note tape and covered the centre where the blue colour ended. Using a Picket Fence – Blending Brush and Tim Holtz Distress Ink – Squeezed Lemonade, I applied yellow to the entire right side of the card. Lastly, I placed Kraftin’ Kimmie – Starburst Stencil over top and using the same brush, I applied Tim Holtz Distress Ink – Mustard Seed. I die cut the word “Happy” using My Creative Time – Happy Everything Stamp Set and Recollections – Black cardstock. Lastly, using a sentiment from the same stamp set, I stamped and heat embossed the word “Anniversary” using Versa Fine – Onyx Black and Ranger – Clear Super Fine Detail embossing powder.

Here is the inside of the card.

I stamped the image onto Copic Marker X-Press It Blending Card using my MISTI and Memento – Tuxedo Black ink. I die cut it using Lawn Fawn – Zig Zag Square Stackables and coloured in the image with Copic markers. Using my MISTI again, I heat embossed the sentiment onto Recollections – Black cardstock using VersaMark and Ranger Embossing Powder White – Extra Fine Detail. Gina K. Designs – Master Layouts – #9 was used to die cut the sentiment. I applied glue to the back of the image and sentiment and attached them both to the inside of the card.
