Sweet Note of Thanks!

Today I’m sharing a Thank-you card using Your Next StampMusic Bunny – CYNS262. I was recently on a cruise and we met some new wonderful couples that sat at the tables next to ours and we exchanged information. Unknown to us until the final evening, the couple that sat directly beside us was Steven Gilliland and his wonderful wife Diane. Steven happens to be a very well known acclaimed author and public speaker. My husband and I were so happy when Steven sent us a few of his books, “Making a Difference” and a “Cherry On Top”. Steven had personally autographed them to us as well. What a kind and awesome gesture and it was very much appreciated. We are currently reading his books and just love them. As a thank you for their kind generosity, I sent them this card from my husband and I.

To create the card, I began with a card base of 5.5″ x 5.5″ using Hammermill – Premium Colour 100 lb. cardstock. I cut Recollections – Matte Gold Foil cardstock to be the same size as the base card and applied double-sided tape to it. This was adhered directly to the base card. Next, I cut a piece of Hammermill – Premium Colour 100 lb. cardstock to the size of 5.25″ x 5.25″. I sprayed some water onto the paper and then using Kraftin’ Kimmie – Musical Melodies stencil I placed it on top of the paper and ran it through my Cricut Die Cutting machine to emboss the paper. Once the paper was dry, I placed the stencil over top of the paper again and this time, using Tim Holtz Distress Ink – Black Soot and a blending brush, I coloured in the musical notes. I also inked around the edges with the same ink and a mini dauber.

Using my Cuttlebug and PinkFresh Studio – Essentials – Blanket Stitched Square 4″ dies, I die cut Copic Marker X-Press It Blending Card. The main image was stamped onto this die cut using Memento – Tuxedo Black ink and my MISTI. I coloured in the image and created my own background. Once this was completed, I put the image back into my MISTI and stamped the sentiment using Versa Fine – Onyx Black ink. Ranger – Clear Super Fine Detail embossing powder was applied over top of the ink and then heat embossed with a Marvy Uchida – Embossing Heat Tool. The little notes were added with Versa Fine – Onyx Black ink and a miniature stamping block. I just chose several notes and stamped them randomly around the image. I felt like the image was still missing something, so I decided to take my Copic black marker (100) and using the lines from the die cut as a guide, coloured in every second stripe. I thought this made it look like a piano keyboard. Lastly, My Creative Time – Stitched Squares Inside and Out 4.5″ were used to die cut Recollections – Matte Gold Foil cardstock.

The card was now ready to assemble. I added U-Line double-sided pop-up tape to the back of the music square, gold square and image. Each of them were popped onto each other and centred onto the base card.

Special Thank You!

Today I’m sharing a Thank-you card using Stampin’ UpBella and Friends. I was recently on a cruise and forgot to bring a Thank-you card for our Stateroom Attendant. Her name was Monalisa and she was such a super nice lady who was always smiling and super nice.  I told her that I made homemade cards and wanted to make sure that I sent her a special one just for her. Monalisa told me that she loved Lhasa Aspos and so I tried to make this little puppy look like one.

Anna Griffin – Shaker Card Kit was used to make the base and front of the card. The size was 5″ x 5″. I applied the pre-made shaker envelope directly to base card using double sided tape. Once again, I applied double-sided tape to the the shaker bag and then applied the top part of the card from the kit. From the same kit, I also added some liquid glue to the back of the large fancy heart and applied it directly over top of the heart shape on the front of the card.

With a stamping block and little dog stamp from Stampin’ Up – Bella and Friends, I inked the stamp with Memento – Tuxedo Black ink and then stamped it twice off to the side on some spare paper and then onto Copic Marker X-Press It Blending Card. This left the outline nice and light, almost like a no-line stamped image. I wanted it this way as most of the puppy was white and I just wanted the furry outline to look like a shadow. Once the puppy was coloured, I fussy cut around it and added some U-Line Double-Sided tape and popped it up onto the front of the card.

With my Cuttlebug and dies from PaperCrafter Today – 15 Die Cut Sentiment Set, I die cut the words “Thank You” from some scrap Hammermill – Premium Colour 100 lb. cardstock and Recollections – Matte Gold Foil cardstock. I applied some liquid glue to the backs of the 2 die cuts and after joining the 2 cuts together, applied them to the front of the card as well. Lastly, to complete the card, I added some little hearts from Doodlebug Design Inc. – Shape Sprinkles – love this! and rainbow hearts.

Card Recipe:

Stamp: Stampin’ UpBella and Friends

Inks: Memento – Tuxedo Black

Paper: Copic Marker X-Press It Blending Card, Hammermill – Premium Colour 100 lb., Recollections – Matte Gold Foil cardstock, Anna Griffin – Shaker Card Kit

Wild Flowers – Just A Note

Sharing a card I made today using KLM Digital DesignMilk Can – Wildflowers from the October 2022 release. This image comes with 2 other sentiments as well, “You make it beautiful” and “Some people, like flowers, just give pleasure by being“.

I created a 5.5″ x 4.25″ card base using Hammermill – Premium Colour 100 lb. cardstock. The image and sentiment were imported into Microsoft Word and printed out onto Copic Marker X-Press It Blending Card.  Using my Cuttlebug and My Creative Time – Rectangle Frame Layers, I die cut the printed image and sentiment. With the Gina Marie Designs – Loopy Rectangle Die Set and my Cuttlebug, I die cut Recollections – Matte Gold Foil cardstock. With Tim Holtz Distress Inks – Tumbled Glass and a finger dauber, the edges of the base card were inked all around. U-Line double-sided tape was applied to the back of the die cut and it was popped up onto the base card.

The image was coloured in with Copic markers. U-Line double-sided tape was applied to the back of the coloured image and it was popped up onto gold die cut. YNS – Cosmic Crush Gumdrops were added to complete the card.

Itty Bitty Heart!!

It’s Wednesday, and this week, I made a CAS card using High Hopes Rubber Stamps Sweetheart Gnome – SLF012  for the main image. I just love this sweet little gnome image as you can change the sentiments that she is holding onto. On this card, I chose to add a heart as I thought it would go great with the sentiment Itty Bitty Heart – H006.

To make my card this week, I began with a card base of Hammermill – Premium Colour 100 lb. cardstock, cut and scored to be 5.5″ x 4.25″. For the background, I used my Cuttlebug, Scrapbook.com – Brights Smooth Cardstock and the embossing folder called Cuttlebug – Thank You. After putting this paper through my Cuttlebug, I saw that the texture was white on some of the letters. I decided to take some more of the background colour off using 3M 405N Tri-M-Ite sanding paper. I just loved the rustic effect it gave. With my MISTI and Memento – Tuxedo Black ink, I stamped the image and sentiment onto Copic Marker X-Press It Blending Card cardstock. The image was coloured in and fussy cut. A cutter was used to go around the sentiment. 3/8″ We R Memory Keepers Corner Chomper was used to create the rounded corners. I inked around all of the edges of the sentiment with Tim Holtz Distress Ink – Barn Door.

To assemble the card, I attached the embossed background directly to the base using double-sided tape. The sentiment and image were both popped up onto the card using U-Line double-sided tape to complete the card.

Card Recipe:

Stamp: Sweetheart Gnome – SLF012 (High Hopes Rubber Stamps)

Sentiment: Itty Bitty Heart – H006 (High Hopes Rubber Stamps)

Embossing Folder: Cuttlebug – Thank You

Grocery Gnomes!!

Sharing a card I made today using KLM Digital Design –  Grocery Gnome – Boy and Grocery Gnome – Girl from the new December release. I love these images as they are great for creating a card for our unspoken heroes who serve us everyday at the grocery stores.

I created the base using Hammermill – Premium Colour 100 lb. cardstock. I cut the paper to the size of 5.5″ x 8.5″. Then I scored each side at 2-1/8″ each and folded them towards the centre. I die cut Photo-Play Autumn Greetings – Fruit Baskets paper using my Cuttlebug and My Creative Time – Rectangle Frame Dies. This die cuts the paper to exactly 5.5″ x 4.25″. I then cut this piece into 2 using my cutter to create 2 equal pieces of 2-1/8″. Tim Holtz Distress Inks – Peeled Paint was used to ink around the edges of the 2 pieces. I applied these directly to the 2 front panels using liquid glue. I wanted to be able to keep the fronts closed, so I used my Cuttlebug and Pink Fresh Dies – Slim Stripes to die cut some green cardstock. I applied 1 longer piece to the left side at the top, 1 long piece to the bottom on the right side using liquid glue. Then I added a stripe on the remaining sides top and bottom with liquid glue to the length of 2-1/8″. On the inside of the card, I applied some 1/8″ tape to a small piece of the green stripes, cut at .5″ x .5″. This allows the longer flaps to slide into them to keep the card closed.

I imported the images and sentiment into Microsoft Word and printed them out onto Copic Marker X-Press It Blending Card. The images were coloured in with Copic markers and then fussy cut with scissors. U-Line double sided tape was applied to the backs of the images and they were popped up onto the card. Finally to finish it off, I applied small embellishments from Dress My Craft – Fruit Salad Slices with liquid glue across the top of the card.

The sentiment was die cut using My Creative Time – Rectangle Frame Dies and my Cuttlebug. Tim Holtz Distress Inks – Peeled Paint was used to ink around the edges and double-sided tape was used to adhere it to the inside of the card.

Card Recipe:

Stamp and Sentiment: Grocery Gnome – Boy – KLM Digital Designs, Grocery Gnome – Girl – KLM Digital Designs

Inks: HP Printer Grayscale, Tim Holtz Distress Inks – Peeled Paint

Gnome – Thanks!!

Sharing a card I made today using KLM Digital Designs – Chillin’ At Home Gnome from the new March release. This gnome is just sitting back and relaxing enjoying the beautiful day outside. This stamp comes with 2 more sentiments as well as the one shown here on my card. “Keep smiling, life is to short”, which is soooo true and also, “Miss You”.

To make the card, I first imported the image and sentiment into Microsoft Word. I sized both the image and sentiment to fit 5.5″ x 4.25″ and printed everything out onto Copic Marker X-Press It Blending Card using my HP Printer. The image was coloured in with Copic markers. I fussy cut around the image as I had accidentally splattered some of the red Copic marker onto the original background. Grrrr! Which turned out to be OK anyways, as I cut Hammermill – Premium Colour 100 lb. paper to the size of 5.5″ x 4.25″ and created my background directly onto it using some templates that I created from cloud dies and Tim Holtz Distress Ink – Salty Ocean for the sky. I just used Copic markers to colour in the sky on the image I fussy cut for between the fence posts. This way I didn’t have to fussy cut between each one. For the grass, I started out with Tim Holtz Distress Ink – Mowed Lawn for my base and then used the Copic markers listed below to add more texture.

Once the image and back ground were both complete, I ran the main image through my Xyron Creative Station as I wanted it to lay completely flat onto the background. Finally, I applied some 2-side tape to the base card and attached the finished background and image.

Card Recipe:

Stamp and Sentiments: Chillin’ At Home Gnome (KLM Digital Designs)

Inks: HP Printer Grayscale, Tim Holtz Distress Ink – Salty Ocean, Tim Holtz Distress Ink – Mowed Lawn

Die Cuts: Avery Elle – Custom Steel Dies – Made in the USA – D-05-01 PiercedCloudsDie, Whimsy Stamps – Grass and Cloud Edger Die Set

Paper: Copic Marker X-Press It Blending Card, Hammermill – Premium Colour 100 lb.

Miscellaneous: Xyron Creative Station

Thank Ewe!!

Hi Everyone! On December 11, 2020, I went in to have Laparoscopic Hysterectomy Surgery. The surgery went really well with no complications and I was home on the same day. I had a lot of rest over the past month, recovering, sleeping long hours and sleeping peacefully knowing that I no longer had to worry. I started back to work remotely last week. It was a long awaited surgery and I was extremely happy to have been lucky enough to have it during these Covid times, as many surgery’s were being cancelled. I had been dealing with Pre-Cancer off and on for the past 12 years beginning in my late 40’s, having multiple smaller operations and taking medication. My aunt had died in her 50’s because she didn’t seek help from a doctor until it was too late and my mother was also diagnosed with Uterine Cancer in her early 50’s as well. Thankfully, my mom was just in the early stages and had the operation in time and has had no issues since. It’s amazing how far technology and science have come. Not long ago, you would have spent a minimum of 2 weeks in the hospital and then another 5 – 6 weeks to recover at home.

As a thank you to the surgeons and nurses that took such good care of me before, during and after my surgery, I made them all cards to express my thanks. I thought I would share them with you and hope you like them too.

All of the cards used Hammermill 5.5″ x 4.25″ for the base. For the front of my cards, I made them all the same using Wooly Lambs (Craftin Desert Divas) retired stamp for the sentiment and main image. I coloured it in with Copic markers and then stamped the image again onto Post-It note to used as a mask. I layered the mask over top of the lamb and used my cloud stencil that I made from Avery Elle – PiercedCloudsDie and Tim Holtz Distress Ink – Salty Ocean to create the clouds. The embossed front was made using Cuttlebug – Thank You Embossing Folder.

To make the inside of the nurses card, I used Proud Nurse Set – 4899 (Art Impressions) for the main image and top sentiment and Craftin Desert Divas – Tissue Time for the bottom sentiment. I coloured in the image with Copic markers.

For the inside of the cards for the surgeons, I printed out the stamps from MFT_BB090_SuperHeroinScrubs_Printable (My Favourite Things) and MFT_BB091_DoctorsOrders_Printable (My Favourite Things) for the images and sentiments using High Quality Grayscale. Then coloured them in with Copic Markers.

Thank You Sew Much Card

Hi There!

My parents recently celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary! Such an accomplishment and we are all so proud of them! We had a wonderful celebration with close friends and family.

I wanted to make my parents something special and unique for their special anniversary and I knew a friend who did quilting. I’ve always wanted to learn how to hand quilt and so I approached her and asked her if she would teach me. She agreed and I was super excited, I was going to learn how to do quilting.

First thing!!!!! I have a lot more respect for all of you quilting ladies and gentlemen out there!!! I had no idea how much work went into it! LOL! However, I loved the final result and so did my parents and family and that made it all worth it!

As a thank you to my friend Marilyn who graciously put up with all my questions and who assisted me on how to cut the fabric and line it up as well as doing the 3 layer sandwich and then sewing the border, I made her this little thank you card.

Vet Thank You Card

Recently our little girl (cat) Boo was very sick. The amazing staff at Robinson’s Pet Hospital managed to help save her life and make her healthy enough to come back home to us. Since then, she has been doing amazingly well. “Boo” means so much to us and we’re glad that she is back to her old self.

Here is a card that I made to thank the Vet (Dr. Emmanuel Aziz) and his terrific staff.

Used Cricut Design Studio and Cricut Explore to cut out the doctor and nurse are from Everyday Paper Dolls Cricut Cartridge. Stamped their faces with Peachy Keen PK-490 Everyday Character Face Assortment. Used Gelly Roll Sakura #8 Pen for their eyes and some pink chalk on the cheeks.

The little cat is from Local King Rubber Stamps “Kitty Love (4)” and the matching die Kitty Love (S). Coloured the kitty in with a mixture of Copics and Spectrum Noir markers.

The sentiment is from Craftin Desert Diva’s “Tissue Time”. I re-arranged the sentiment so that it would fit on the card.

The tag is from MFT – Die-namics Pierced Fishtail Flags.

Background paper is from DCWV – The Pets Stack 6.5″ x 4.5″ printed cardstock.

Hope you like it!

Thank You Card

Hi There,

Like to share a Thank You card I made for my neighbour for coming to my rescue the other day. Needed to go in for some minor day surgery and my husband just started a new job and therefore couldn’t take me. My neighbour was so good, she took me to the hospital and stayed the whole time with me. 7 hours in total if you include the drive time. I’ll be eternally grateful. It’s so nice to have great neighbours that you can depend on.

Here is the shaker card that I made for her.
