Penguin and Reindeer Friend!

Today I’m sharing a Christmas card that I made using Whimsy StampsPenguin and Reindeer Friend and Penny Black Creative DiesAntique Frame.

The image was printed out with my HP Printer onto Copic Marker X-Press It Blending Card using High Quality Grayscale and coloured in with Copic markers. Once I finished colouring the image, I applied Copic B000 all around it and then fussy cut the image out leaving a slim border.

The base card was created to the size of 4.25″ x 5.5″ out of Hammermill – Premium 110 lb. cardstock. Stampin’ Up – Snowflake Splendor Designer Series Paper was cut to the same size as the base card. Using a Cuttlebug and Penny Black Creative Dies – Antique Frame, I die cut the centre of the paper, keeping the original size as well. The same dies were also used to cut out a larger rectangle out of Hot Buy – Recollections – Jewel Tones paper. To create the snow, I first die cut the snow drifts with Lawn Fawn – Sparkle Cardstock in “Pixie Dust” paper and Spellbinders – Color Block Scenic Scape dies. Next, so that I could keep the same shape as the snowflake die cut, I once again ran both of the snow die cuts through the cutting machine using the Penny Black dies. All of the die cuts were inked around the edges with a finger dauber and Tim Holtz Distress Ink – Salty Ocean. Tim Holtz Distress Inks – Tumbled Glass was applied to the top of the snow banks to give them some contrast.

The whole card was now ready to assemble.

Liquid glue was applied to the larger snowflake border and then applied directly onto the base card. U-Line Double-Sided Foam Tape was applied to the completed image, small snow drift and each of the rectangle die cuts. The larger die cut rectangle was popped up onto the centre of the snowflake base. Liquid glue was applied to the larger snow drift and it was applied directly to the smaller snowflake die cut. Another layer of U-Line Double-Sided Foam Tape and some liquid glue were applied to the smaller snow drift then it was popped up onto the larger snow drift. The penguin and reindeer image was popped up behind the smaller snowdrift. I also applied some liquid glue to the foam tape so that it would adhere better to the sparkle cardstock. Lastly, I fussy cut a sentiment from Creative Expressions – Wordies Sentiment Sheets – Christmas Script and popped it up onto the top of the card.

Peace Dude!

Today I’m sharing an inspirational \ birthday card using KLM Digital DesignPeace Gnome from the new March release. This image also comes with 2 more sentiments, “Peace begins with a smile” and “There is peace even in the storm”. Seeing this image made me feel nostalgic for my younger days in the 60’s and 70’s. I still remember how excited I was to get my very first pair of GWG bell bottom jeans and then LEVIS. LOL! Flower power was all the rage and there were flowers and peace signs everywhere. I was still young, but it was a really cool time to grow up.

AC Cardstock – White was used to create a 6″ x 6″ card base. BasicGrey – Lauderdale Patterned paper was cut to the same size as the base card and adhered with double-sided tape. Tim Holtz Distress Inks – Villainous Potion was used to ink around all of the edges.

The image and sentiment were imported into Microsoft Word and printed out onto Copic Marker X-Press It Blending Card and 2 extra copies of the image were printed onto plain copy paper to be used for masking later. With my Cuttlebug, I die cut the image and the purple background layer using Quickutz Nesting Frame 7 dies. I fussy cut around the sentiment and then inked it very lightly with some purple that I had left on my blending brush. I ran it through my Xyron Create a Sticker and attached it to a scrap piece of Recollections – Purple Passions paper. Once again, I fussy cut around the sentiment. The larger frame and sentiment edges were inked around the edges with the same ink as the base card.

The image was coloured in with Copic Markers listed below. The top portion of the image was fussy cut and I applied some Washi Tape to the back of it to create a hinge and to mask the image. Using blender brushes and multiple Tim Holtz Distress Inks, I created the clouds in the sky with Lawn Fawn Cuts – Cloudy Stencil.

Once I completed the sky, I used second image that I had printed out onto the copy paper for 2 purposes. The first purpose was to use a stylus and tracing paper to transfer the image onto the patterned paper from BasicGrey – Lauderdale Paper Pad for paper piecing the gnome’s shirt. I loved the wild flower pattern and thought it was perfect for this hippie gnome. Once the pattern was transfered, I fussy cut it out. I used my Copic markers to create a small shadow on various parts of the shirt. With a Pigma Micron 03 black marker, I drew the lines in darker so that they would stand out on the shirt and then used a black marker to go around all of the pieces. Once completed, all of the pieces were put through a Xyron Create a Sticker to make it easier to stick to them to the coloured image and also so that they would lay flat. I then added the pieces to the main image.

The printed image was then fussy cut and the sand was added using a blender brush, Krafty Kolours – Sandy Shores for the base and a mixture of Copic markers listed below.

The remainder of the card was now ready to assemble. I added U-Line double-sided tape to the backs of the sentiment, large purple frame and image. They were all then popped up onto card.

Card Recipe:

Stamp and Sentiment:  Peace Gnome – KLM Digital Designs

Inks: HP Printer Grayscale, Tim Holtz Distress Inks – Salty Ocean, Wilted Violet, Aged Mahagony, Abandoned Coral, Kitsch Flamingo, Spiced Marmalade, Mustard Seed, Twisted Citron, Villainous Potion, Krafty Kolours – Sandy Shores

Purr-fect Day!!

Today, I’m sharing a birthday card that I made using Dreamerland Crafts stamps called Meow Meow 03 – D20015. This little kitten is having an amazing day, getting up early, playing, relaxing and then saying her prayers for the next day to be the same all over again. If we could all live the life of a spoiled kitten, life would be amazing! LOL!

To make this card I used a base card of 6.5″ x 8.25″ using Hammermill – Premium Colour 100 lb. cardstock. I scored it at 3.25″.  Next, using my Couture Creations – Go Power and Emboss and Whimsy Stamps – Slimline Pillows Die, I die cut Copic Marker X-Press It Blending Card and Recollections – Petite Floral – Double Sided paper.  Using my MISTI and Memento – Tuxedo Black ink, I stamped all of the images onto the various shaes and coloured them in with Copic markers. I created the sentiment using a ruler and Pigma Micron 03 black marker.

To assemble the card, I applied glue to the back of the patterned paper and attached it directly to the base. Tim Holtz Distress Ink – Picked Raspberry was used to ink around all of the outside and inside edges of the die cut. For all of the images and sentiment, I first ran them through my Xyron Creative Station to turn them into stickers. Also, this would give me full coverage to lay them flat. I inserted each of them into their respective places of the die cut.

Your Dino-Mite!!

Sharing the third and last image and sentiment from KLM Digital Designs today from the new February release called Dinosaur Collection. The images are great for masculine cards! This image and sentiment is also great for a young person’s birthday too!

To make the card, I first imported the image and sentiment into Microsoft Word. I sized both the image and sentiment to fit 5.5″ x 4.25″ and printed everything out onto Copic Marker X-Press It Blending Card using my HP Printer. The image was coloured in with Copic markers. The eyes were all black in the original image. I used Sakura Glaze – Black to make the eyes stand out more. Gelly Roll Sakura #10 Pen was then used to create the whites of the eyes and Copic marker G07 was added to give them some colour. Finally, Pigma Micron 03 black marker was used to give the dinosaur some eyelashes. Once all of the colouring was completed, I attached the image to the base using double-sided tape.

As a side note, I used Jess Crafts – Colouring Mountains at Dawn Youtube video for some inspiration on colouring the mountains in the background.

Card Recipe:

Gnome – Merry Christmas!

It’s Wednesday, and this week I’m featuring a Christmas card I made using the image Flying Gnome – TLF008 and sentiment Sm Christmas Script – F051 from (High Hopes Rubber Stamps).  I just love colouring these adorable little gnomes. Also, it’s always good to make Christmas cards a little at a time throughout the year so that you are not rushing to get them all done in December. LOL! Have you started making your Christmas cards yet this year?

To create the card this week, I first used the die cut from Creative Expressions by Sue Wilson – Festive Collection – Pointsettia Mini Background – CED3049 to cut some Copic Marker X-Press It Blending Card using my Cuttlebug. I stamped the main image and then coloured it with Copic Markers. I started off doing the sky first as I didn’t want any of the Reds smearing into it. (This happens sometimes if you are not careful.) Once the image was all coloured in, I used Sakura Glaze – Black and Gelly Roll Sakura #8 Pen to increase the intensity of the eye on the bird. I outlined the entire image with Pigma Micron 03 black marker to make it stand out more against the sky. Lastly, I used a mixture of Gelly Roll Sakura #8 Pen and Gelly Roll Sakura #10 Pen to create the snow and stars in the sky.

For the base of the card, I began with a standard white card base of 4.25″ x 5.5″. I cut another piece of white cardstock the same size and applied the red shimmer topping on it using Crafts – Sparkling Stickers – 02-3068629. I used the same die cut listed above to cut out the intricate design using my Cuttlebug and the gold paper from Hot Buy Craft Smart – Holiday Glitz Glitter Paper. I had put the gold paper through my Xyron Creative Station before I die cut it. This made it easier to just peel and stick onto the base.

For the sentiment, I die cut some spare red cardstock using Craftin Desert Diva’s – Flag Banner Dies. Using my MISTI and VersaMark ink, I stamped the sentiment onto the die cut and embossed it using Ranger Super Fine Gold Embossing powder. This was heated with my Marvy Uchida – Embossing Heat Tool. The image and the sentiment were both popped up with 3M VHB – 2 sided tape to complete the card.

Card Recipe:

Stamp: Flying Gnome – TLF008 (High Hopes Rubber Stamps)

Sentiment: Sm Christmas Script – F051 (High Hopes Rubber Stamps)

Inks: Memento – Tuxedo Black, VersaMark

Paper: Copic Marker X-Press It Blending Card, Hot Buy Craft Smart – Holiday Glitz Glitter Paper 12″ x 12″, Crafts – Sparkling Stickers – 02-3068629

Die Cut: Creative Expressions by Sue Wilson – Festive Collection – Pointsettia Mini Background – CED3049, Craftin Desert Diva’s – Flag Banner Dies (Retired)

Embossing Powder: Ranger Super Fine Gold

Tools and Miscellaneous: MISTI – Most Incredible Stamping Tool, Cuttlebug, Pigma Micron 03 black marker, Xyron Creative Station, Marvy Uchida – Embossing Heat Tool

Image coloured with Copic Markers:

Skin: E21, E11, E04, E00, E000

Shoe: E34, E33, E31

Sky: B99, B97, B95, B93, Gelly Roll Sakura #8 Pen, Gelly Roll Sakura #10 Pen

Winter Polar Bear

Hi There,

Thought I’d share another Christmas card that I just finished for this year. Only about 45 more to go!!!!

PolarBear-TCBJ

To make this card I used the .svg cut from Too Cute By Jessica called Winter Polar Bear – Designer Jessica Owens 2015 and cut it out on my Cricut Explore after I finished uploading the image in Cricut Design Space. Used Sharpie Water Based Paint – White – Extra Fine Point, General’s Charcoal white for the eyes and Pigma Micron 03 black marker for the eyelashes.

Added some Clear – Wink of Stella on the red portion of the candy cane and  Wink of Stella – Glitter White on the white pieces.

Ranger Stickles Yellow Glitter Glue for the centre of the pointsettia.

Here is a close-up of the bear.

All patterened papers are from Pebbles – Home for Christmas paper pad – 36 papers- 6 x 6 in (15.2 x 15.2 cm).

Inked around the edges with Tim Holtz Distress Ink – Pine Needles and Memento Dew Drop – Lady Bug ink.

Sentiment is from Popcorn the Bear – Christmas Collection. Also used Craftin Desert Diva’s – Flag Banner Dies. Stamped sentiment with Versamark and then used Ranger Embossing Powder White – Extra Fine Detail.

Christmas – Owl-idays

Back to share another Christmas card I made using Craftin Desert Diva’s Owl-idays stamps, Stitched in Circle Dies and Stampin Up – Woodland Embossing Folder.

I love how this turned out. I hope you do too!!!

Happy Owl-idays

To colour the tree bark I used my black copic pen 100 and then outlined the trees with Pigma Micron 03 black marker.

In between the trees used Tim Holtz “Broken China” and “Tumbled Glass” for the sky. The sky is actually darker than it shows in the photo.

Used Ceramcoat – White Acrylic paint and a little bit of water and paint brush to create the snow effect.

Stamped owls with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. All of the owls bodies were coloured with Copics E33, E35 and E37. Feet, Y02 and beak YR16 and YR04. Eyes, Y02, E33 and Gelly Roll Sakura #8 Pen . The belly on the one was coloured with E31.

The hats and Santa jacket were coloured with Copics R27 and R29.

Santa hat and scarf on the lower branch were coloured with Copic markers BG05, B24,and R27. Used Martha Stuart Holidays Blue Topaz Tinsel Glitter on hat as well.

Used Liquid Applique 322 Col#0 White and my heat gun to create the fluff on Santa outfit and hat.

Sentiment was stamped with Versamark and then Stampin Up White Super Fine Embossing Powder.

Cut the frame for the wreath out 3 times and layered it, moving it slightly each time to create the affect.

Used “Crafts” red pearls to add little holly berries to the wreath. Then finished it off with a little red bow.

Hope you like it!
