It Will Be Oak-ay!!

Sharing a card I made today using KLM Digital Designs – Fall Oak Gnome from the July release. This image comes with 3 sentiments. I’ve used 1 on my card, but you also have the choice of  “Oak-ey Dokey” and “Hope You are Oak-ky”. I love the sentiment that I chose for this card because you could use it for so many different occasions. It could be used as a  “Get Well” card, an “inspirational card” for someone about to write a big exam or a “Just Because” card.

To make the card, I first imported the image into Microsoft Word and printed it out onto Copic Marker X-Press It Blending Card. I die cut it to the size of 5.5″ x 4.5″ using my Cuttlebug and My Creative Time – Rectangle Frame Dies and My Creative Time – Rectangle Frame Layers dies. I inked around the brown layer with Tim Holtz Distress Ink – Gathered Twigs and around the patterned paper with Tim Holtz Distress Ink – Rusty Hinge. The image was coloured in with Copic markers and attached directly to the brown layer. The largest die cut which was cut from Your Next Stamp – Fabulous Fall patterned paper was applied directly to the card base of 5.5″ x 4.25″ Hammermill – Premium Colour cardstock using double-sided tape. 3M VHB – 2 sided tape was applied to the back of the brown rectangle and adhered directly to the patterened paper. To complete my card, I added a little squirrel button from Dress It Up – Backyard Buddies using double-sided tape and glue.

Dam Good Birthday!

Sharing a card I made for my younger brother’s birthday. He sometimes likes to use “choice” words, so I couldn’t resist  these little characters and sentiment from Whimsy Stamps called Beaver Birthday Clear Stamps. LOL! The little tree stump and stacked logs are from Your Next Stamp – Autumn Animals (CYNS605) and the larger log is from Craftin Desert Diva’s – Build A Scene (Retired).

To make this card, I first stamped all of the images onto Copic Marker X-Press It Blending Card using Memento – Tuxedo Black and my MISTI.  My Brother Scan and Cut was used to cut around all of the images, which were then coloured with copic markers. The sentiment was stamped with VersaMark ink and then heat embossed with Ranger Embossing Powder White – Extra Fine Detail and Marvy Uchida – Embossing Heat Tool.

The base card was created using Hammermill – Premium Colour 100 lb. cardstock folded to the size of 8-1/4″ x 3-1/4″. To create the clouds in the background, I used the same paper cut to the same size as the base and using a template that I had previously created using Whimsy Stamps – Grass and Cloud Edger Die Set and Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Inks – Broken China and Blueprint Sketch. For the slim-line die cut, I used Whimsy Stamps – Slimline Wave Dies and Craftsmart Hot Buy – Christmas Embossed paper. Then I inked around the entire die cut with Tim Holtz Distress Ink – Tea Dye to make it pop more. The tree along the left side and the long log along the bottom were drawn free hand and then coloured in with Copic markers.

To assemble the card, I first attached the cloudy background to the base of the card using double-sided tape. Next, I attached the slim-line die cut using some glue. The large tree, long log and small log pile were all attached using glue. The remainder of the images and sentiment were all attached using 3M VHB – 2 sided tape. I added some twine to the balloons and beaver to finish it off.

Card Recipe:

Stamp and Sentiments: Whimsy Stamps – Beaver Birthday (KHB157), Your Next Stamp – Autumn Animals (CYNS605), Craftin Desert Divas – Build A Scene (Retired)

Three Kings Bringing Joy

It’s Wednesday, and this week I’m sharing a Christmas card featuring the adorable image Three Kings – T201 from (High Hopes Rubber Stamps) with the sentiment Joy To The World – GLL012 (High Hopes Rubber Stamps).  Have you started your Christmas cards yet?

To create the card this week, I stamped the main image and then coloured it in with Copic Markers. I used my Brother Scan and Cut to cut around the image and then used a black marker to go around all of the edges. For the sentiment, I stamped it out and then used My Creative Time: Fun Vertical Greetings to die cut it.

For the base card I used Hammermill – Premium Colour 100 lb. to create my background at 5.5″ x 4.25″ and also the base card.  I used various Tim Holtz inks listed below to create the night sky and earth at the bottom. After the basic blending was done, I layered Kraftin’ Kimmie – Twinkle Little Stars stencil over top of the base and applied Stampin Up – Whisper White using a sponge dauber. I removed the stencil and cleaned it off. Then placed it on top again. This time, I used a sponge dauber and FolkArt – Extreme Glitter Acrylic Paint to give the stars some sparkle. Note: A little dab of this paint goes a long way. Marvy Uchida – Embossing Heat Tool was used to help speed up the drying process.

Once the paint was all dry, the card was ready to be assembled. I cropped the background to 5.25″ x 4″ and placed it directly onto the base. Then the main image and sentiment were added using 3M VHB – 2 sided tape.

Card Recipe:

Stamp: Three Kings – T201 (High Hopes Rubber Stamps)

4 Alarm Birthday!!!

It’s Wednesday, and this week, I used Fireman Matthew – S017 (High Hopes Rubber Stamps) for the main image and 4 Alarm Day – H059 (High Hopes Rubber Stamps) for the sentiment. Fireman Matthew is prepped and ready to put out the fire from all of those flames rising up from the birthday candles on your cake! He even has a lot of little firetrucks on standby too, just in case! LOL!

To make my card this week, I started off with a card base of 6″ x 6″. I used Echo Park – Scoot by Deena Rutter paper for the background. I just loved those little firetrucks. My older brother used to be a fireman, so I was always looking for background paper to go with the Fireman stamps I would find to make his cards.

I created the brick background by embossing some brown tan paper, using my Cuttlebug and Darice – Brick Wall Embossing Folder. Then I used a mixture of Tim Holtz brown inks listed below to create the texture for the wall. I stamped the image onto Copic Marker X-Press It Blending Card using my MISTI and Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and then coloured the image in with Copic Markers. Once it was coloured in, I fussy cut around it and went along all of the edges with a black marker.

The sentiment was long and I wanted to make it square, so I did it in several steps. Using my MISTI and Memento Tuxedo Black Ink, I covered the portion of the stamp with tape that I didn’t want to stamp. Inked the portion that I wanted and then removed the tape. Then I stamped it, cleaned it off and moved the tape to the next portion that I didn’t want to stamp. I did this 3 times to get the result seen in this photo. This allowed me to make the sentiment into a square. Once this was done, I die cut it out using my Cuttlebug and My Creative Time – Stitched Squares Inside and Out.

I ran both the die-cut sentiment and finished coloured image through my Xyron Creative Station. Then I mounted the image onto the brick wall and the sentiment onto some red cardstock. I used my cutter to create a nice square for the sentiment. Next I went around the entire card with Tim Holtz – Fired Brick Distress Ink and popped up the brick wall and sentiment using 3M VHB – 2 sided tape. I added in some water droplets using Stickles – Ice Blue to finish off the card.

Card Recipe:

Stamp:  Fireman Matthew – S017  (High Hopes Rubber Stamps)

Spring is here!

Welcome One Crazy Stamper Fans!

It’s Wednesday, and I’m back to share these adorable hedgehogs who are so excited to smell the beautiful spring blossoms growing on the trees. I used Hedgies Spring Loaded (High Hopes Rubber Stamps) to create the scene. I added a little bit more to the tree off to the side.

I thought it would be fun to try colouring this stamp using various watercolour mediums and brushes.

I started off by stamping the image onto Arches Watercolour Paper, 140 lb. Cold Press.

Then I used a mixture of Spectrum Noir Aqua Markers, Tim Holtz Distress Inks, Derwent Watercolour pencils and a paint palette.

I created the clouds by using a cotton ball and soaked into a little bit of water and then tapping it onto the paper to lift some of the watercolour. Finally, I used Pigma Micron 02 Archival Ink Pen to outline the flowers and the Hedge Hogs. For the noses, I used a Sakura Glaze – Black Pen.

Supplies Used:

Spectrum Noir Aqua Markers: Chocolate, Sepia, TerraCotta

Derwent Watercolour Pencils: Brown Ochre 57, Raw Sienna 58, Copper Beach 61, Vandyke Brown 55

Inks: Tim Holtz Distress Inks – Ground Espresso, Tim Holtz Distress Ink – Brushed Corduroy, Tim Holtz Distress Ink – Gathered Twigs, Tim Holtz Distress Ink – Picked Raspberry, Krafty Kolours – Totally Taupe Mini Ink Cube

Ai Watercolor Essentials Palette

Background Paper: Recollections – Petite Floral – Double Sided 12 x 12 in (30.4 x 30.4 cm)

MISTI – Most Incredible Stamping Tool

Brushes: Talkon H.I. Series – 970 White – #4, Legacy – Folk Art 1837 Perfect Liner #1, Bette Byrd “Aqua-Sable” 1600 Filbert 1\4

Ribbon: Ribbon Trends – Organdy Ribbon 029 White

Capture the Good Times!

Hi Dreamerland Crafts Fans!

Today I’d like to share a card that I made using Dreamerland Crafts Photographer stamp from their new release this year. I decided to colour the outfit blue to match the cameras in the background. To create the scene, I also used several of the Dreamland Mix and Match background stamps.

I used some Canson Watercolour paper and wet it down. Then I stamped on my clouds using Clouds – Dreamerland Crafts Mix & Match Collection stamp and a mixture of Tim Holtz Blue inks which you can find in the list below. For the background blue, I used Tim Holtz Distress Inks – Tumbled Glass, some water and a watercolour brush.

For the greenery Flower Beds – Dreamerland Crafts Mix & Match Collection stamp was used and stamped with a mixture of Tim Holtz greens and Tim Holtz Distress Ink – Gathered Twigs. Then I used the watercolour brush and Tim Holtz Distress Ink – Wilted Violet for the flowers and to add in a little more colour below the shrubbery.

I popped up the little girl and bird with some 3M VHB – 2 sided tape after stamping the images with Memento – Tuxedo Black ink and then colouring the images in with Copic markers.

Background paper and sentiment are from Creative Memories – Shutter Bug collection which I thought was perfect to complete this card.

Note: Using my MISTI – Most Incredible Stamping Tool allowed me to do the placement of the Mix and Match images with ease.

I hope you like my little photographer! Are you ready to go out and take some pictures now too???
